Your story deserves a home.

At ColePress, we believe great books start with authentic voices. If your work explores what it means to live, struggle, or dream in America, we’d love to hear from you. We accept manuscripts year-round and welcome both new and established authors.

ColePress publishes Fading Americana—fiction or nonfiction that captures the culture, character, and contradictions of the United States. That might mean a memoir from the heartland, a novel about small-town life, an essay collection on modern identity, or a deep dive into forgotten history. What matters most is truth, craftsmanship, and heart.

What We’re Looking For

We’re drawn to manuscripts that:

  • Explore American life in all its forms: rural, urban, historic, or contemporary.
  • Feature distinctive voices and authentic storytelling.
  • Demonstrate care, revision, and a commitment to craft.
  • Fit within (or just beyond) the broad category of Americana.

We consider works of fiction, nonfiction, memoir, essay collections, and select poetry projects that align with our mission.

Our Process

Every submission receives thoughtful review by our editorial team. If your manuscript is a potential fit, we’ll reach out to schedule a conversation about your goals, your audience, and how the hybrid publishing model works. We treat every author as a potential partner, not a transaction.

From there, qualifying projects move into a collaborative publishing proposal outlining editing, design, and distribution options tailored to your book.

How to Submit

Please include the following with your submission:

  1. A brief cover letter introducing yourself and your project.
  2. A one-page synopsis of your book.
  3. The first three chapters or approximately 25 pages of your manuscript.
  4. Your contact information and a short author bio.
  5. Which publishing package you are interested in pursuing.

Send materials as a single PDF or Word document to submissions@colepress.com.

We’ll confirm receipt and respond within 3-4 weeks.

A Note from the Publisher

ColePress was founded by an author who understands what it takes to bring a story to life. We’re not looking for celebrity names or viral platforms. We’re looking for writers with something real to say. If your book captures the spirit, grit, or grace of America, we want to help you share it with readers who care about authenticity as much as you do.

ColePress. Stories of America, published with purpose.
